What is the format of the 62nd Annual Convention?
HYBRID
It offers 2 options for participation:
- Full Face to Face engagement during the Convention dates
- Virtual engagement through access to video recordings after the Convention dates for a specific period.
Advantages:
- Inclusive as it allows 2 options for engagement depending on the individual situation of members and if members are duly registered for the Annual Convention.
- Considerate as it allows all registered participants to secure needed CPD points/units through F2F and/or virtual engagement during and after the AC dates.
- Responsive as it considers the reality of Covid 19 limitations in the physical capacity of PICC vis-à-vis our growing population of members, health protocol and etiquette, risk of super spreading events, need to attend religious obligations, logistical challenges among others.
How do we get CPD units/points through the 62nd AC?
All face-to-face engagements will get the full 100% of the assigned CPD units/points per plenary or simultaneous session.
All virtual engagements will get 75% of the full point.
If a face-to-face attendee fails to complete the required CPD units, can the attendee complete the requirement through virtual engagement after the AC?
YES. But the reverse is not possible. Those who opt to attend virtually will obviously not be able to compensate by attending the face-to-face engagements.
How about members who cannot attend the 62nd AC due to conflicts with religious obligations?
Firstly, allow us to apologize to our Moslem colleagues who may have been inconvenienced by this unavoidable situation. It is best to inform our colleagues that reservation for the use of PICC requires blocking our traditional dates 5 years down the road to secure its availability for future PPS Annual Conventions. Unfortunately, the dates of religious activities for our Moslem colleagues fell on the traditional dates reserved for 2025.
Secondly, we understand this situation and has implemented the following mitigating measures:
Moved the Annual Business Meeting to April 9, 2024, instead of April 10, 2024.Will grant flexibility and utmost consideration to those who may not be able to attend the AC and Business Meeting provided a letter of notification regarding this conflict of schedule is forwarded and approved by the BOT.Business meetings require physical presence. Should you be absent this year, there are still future business meetings you can comply with to secure a certificate of good standing from the PPS.
Will there be a DOH approved certification for attendance in the 62nd PPS AC on official time?
YES. There will be a certificate issued for this purpose for those who may require it for their work documentation. Contact details have been forwarded through the Department Chairs and Training Officers.
You can request this through our PPS 62nd AC Secretariat
Are the proceedings of the 62nd AC recorded and made available after the AC?
YES. If members are duly registered, they will be able to access the entire video proceedings of the 62nd AC in the PPS website after April 18, 2025 up to July 31, 2025 before it is put down.
Instructions will be released by the PPS 62nd AC Organizing Committee regarding the virtual viewing of all activities after the AC.
How can we secure CPD units during the 62nd AC?
FOR FACE-TO-FACE ENGAGEMENTS
A QR code will be flashed near the end of the lecture which attendees must capture for their attendance and CPD units. A knowledge check or an activity survey may be incorporated in the SS which the attendee must correctly answer to secure the allotted CPD units.
FOR VIRTUAL ENGAGEMENTS
Virtual attendees shall be given instructions before the launch of the online viewing of recorded plenary lectures and simultaneous symposia. Similarly, a knowledge check or activity survey will be incorporated in the SS which the viewer must correctly answer to secure the allotted CPD units.
How can an attendee or participant track his CPD units during the 61st AC?
Our Information Technology (IT) Team has devised a mechanism to capture and document all CPD units secured/earned by an attendee (F2F or virtual) through our PPS website. This can be accessed and reviewed by duly registered participants of the 61st AC.
How about the Pre-Convention Workshops?
Four (4) representatives shall be provided by the Chairman of every HAB-accredited hospital to attend each of the four (4) pre-convention workshops.
The Chairman of the Department can internally assign the topics to the 4 institutional representatives of their hospital then forward this list to the Pre-Convention Workshop Committee or list down their corresponding assignments on site before the workshop begins.
The Chairman shall be responsible for forwarding to each respective institutional representative all pre-convention workshop reading materials or case assignments which must be completed per topic prior to the pre-convention workshop date.
Pre-Convention Workshop Fee: Php 1,500/session so a total of Php 6,000/ institution for the 4 sessions.
Payment for the Pre-Convention Workshop is through the Payment Portal of the PPS 61AC.
What if we cannot produce 4 institutional representatives for the Pre-Convention Workshop?
In as much as we encourage each HAB accredited institution to complete all 4 slots to maximize learning from the 4 sessions, we fully understand our current limitations.
Hence, we will accept situations where less than 4 representatives per institution is the case.
Best effort is still to be complete 4 institutional representatives if possible.
Can 1 institutional representative represent 2 institutions of affiliation?
In as much as we encourage each HAB accredited institution to complete all 4 slots to maximize learning from the 4 sessions, we fully understand our current limitations.
Hence, we will accept situations where 1 pediatrician represents 2 institutions as long as both institutions represented pay the pre-convention workshop fee
SEPARATELY, so separate Certificates of Attendance can be issued.
Best effort is still to be complete 4 institutional representatives if possible.
